Kenneth+Wynn

This is a site dedicated to the memory of artist Kenneth James Wynn (1922-2009)

Ken Wynn sadly died on Sunday 18th October 2009. He would have been 87 in December and had lived in Brighton for the last 40 years.

Ken was a personal , and very dear friend, and a few years some of his wonderful work was found  the internet by one of his friends. He was thrilled and said "my goodness darling, to think I am on the internet"

So this site is aimed at putting him very firmly on the internet.
The first batch of pictures are  some that have been found on various websites. This will be followed by those from personal collections and include Penquin book cover originals and some of his portraits.
We hope to be able to add others if the owners are willing.
Each will have a watermark superimposed as they are copyright material
So please contact us at enquiries@kenwynn.co.uk  if you would be willing to add your own Ken Wynn gallery to this site.

Ken joined the newly formed Artists Partners Ltd in 1951, one of the original team of artists, and produced work for Schweppes, the International Wool Secretariat and Bournville cocoa to name a few. He covered the genres of nude, cover girls, racing and seafaring covers. Much of his work is said to be comparable to the famous "Varga girls"

Ken also worked on cruise ships in the 80's commissioned to do passengers portraits etc, which honed his skills as an illustrator and painter. Other great interests were horse racing which again became an area of work that he enjoyed and the paintings were sold in galleries in Brighton and are now for sale in the US - with asking prices of up to $8,735., and in 2002 one of his hunting scenes fetched $20,000 at Christies, New york.  I have to say, his equine paintings are my personal favourites

He was commissioned to produce the covers for the second Penquin editions of CS Forrester's "Hornblower" as well as books by John Buchan such as "Sick Heart River".
